"Founded by Louise Bruce and Matthew Burke, Compost for Brooklyn will encourage the sustainable disposal of food scraps and related organic waste in Kensington, Brooklyn. We will transform a vacant lot into a garden, planted with native floral species.
The garden will host a series of composting bins and in-vessel composting units which will accept drop-offs from area residents and restaurants. The compost produced will be distributed to public gardens and private gardeners across the five boroughs to encourage green spaces to bloom throughout New York City."
